Some of the Newest Most Exciting Energy Innovations

The Bloom Box.

A silicon Valley invention that uses fuel cells to produce electricity on site eliminating any connection to the electrical grid.  Several large companies (Google, Walmart, Fed Ex, Staples, etc.) have already bought and are testing these Bloom Boxes.

The car that runs on air.

One of the most exciting innovations in automobiles, to date, is the zero pollution compressed air powered car which is planned to have a range of up to 500 miles on a full charge of air. The cost of electric for a full charge of compressed air is estimated to be approximately three dollars. The compressor can be operated during low use hours.

The price of the compressed air powered car is estimated to be under $20K which will make it competitive with many gasoline powered cars currently on the market.

Unlimited Solar Power?

This new discovery could lead to unlimited cheap energy according to Clean Technica 27 October 2008.

Researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have discovered a new way of storing energy from sunlight. The breakthrough could potentially lead to unlimited solar power.

The process which is loosely based on plant photosynthesis uses solar energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen gases. When needed, the gases can then be re-combined in a fuel cell, creating carbon-free electricity whether the sun is shining or not.

The process uses natural materials, is inexpensive to conduct and is easy to set up.
